Embrace the stay by planning an unhurried afternoon in and around the resource. So nice with a heated pool, usually not nearly as crowded as at those big resorts. Tip your hat to a book and the retro-chic sundeck and drink in the serene moods of the marina. It’s the perfect way to wind down after a day of sightseeing and a very central aspect of the property.

A great way to see the area is to drive out to the very tip of the Point Loma peninsula to visit the Cabrillo National Monument. Within 15 minutes from the hotel, it provides what many say is the finest panoramic view anywhere in San Diego-all of downtown skyline, Coronado Island, the bay, and the huge Pacific Ocean. Historic lighthouses and interesting tide pools at low tide add to the appeal of the area.

For a night to remember, have it reserved for the Bali Hai Restaurant nearby just before the sun sets. The view of the city skyline when the lights turn on is just incredible. For a wider and more laid-back scope of dining options, drive ten minutes to Liberty Station. This former Naval Training Center has been cleverly redeveloped into a great public market-artsy, with dozens of great food stalls, breweries, and restaurants catering to every palate.

While having a car is convenient, there’s a cool way to completely sidestep downtown parking as you walk or drive to Coronado Ferry Landing on the bay side of the peninsula from the San Diego Bay Ferry Terminal. From there, you just hop onto the San Diego Bay Ferry. This beautiful ferry trip jets you straight across the bay to Broadway Pier on the downtown waterfront where you are directly next to the USS Midway Museum and a short walk to the Gaslamp Quarter. Pretty cool, eh? A memory-making way to get around.
